As Founder and Principal Designer of Collective Designs, Selina Tay’s philosophy of interior design is that of an equal coupling of art and function. This is an ideal which underlies the designs created by her boutique interior design firm.
Selina has personally designed more than 1,000 projects in the last 2 decades preferring to specialise largely in residential projects which she believes is the most challenging for a Designer given constraints within the residential space and limitations imposed by its external surroundings. Her designs are consistently distinguished by her unique ability to “cut space” i.e. to plan the space to ensure and maximise efficiency by way of flow, light and air.
Unlike many designers, Selina has in-depth and broad knowledge of materials and how materials work and more importantly, how to use the material to achieve sustainability and compatibility with her Client’s needs and personality respectively.
Selina has a Masters in Design majoring in Design Management from the University of New South Wales and is a member of the Singapore Interior Design Confederation. She is based in Singapore.
