On the prestigious Coronation Road West, a house stands testament to the transformative power of interior design. For Collective Designs, this particular residence holds a special significance. Having journeyed with its owners through different phases of life, we’ve had the distinct honor of reimagining this space, adapting it to reflect the evolving dreams of each family who called it home. This project showcases our expertise in residential interior design and our commitment to creating personalized living spaces.
Most recently, we embarked on a new chapter with the latest homeowners – a family of four who divide their time between the vibrant landscapes of Indonesia and the dynamic cityscape of Singapore. Their vision was clear: to create a home that transcended the physical distance separating them, a haven that would foster deeper connections and a profound sense of belonging. Our mission, then, was to weave warmth, comfort, and a tangible feeling of togetherness into the very fabric of the house. We focused on creating a family-friendly interior design that catered to their unique lifestyle and travel patterns. This home renovation project highlights our ability to blend different cultural influences into a cohesive and beautiful design.
Designing Comfort: Three Key Elements
To achieve this harmonious blend of warmth and belonging, we focused on three essential design principles that now define the heart of this Coronation Road West home. These design elements were carefully considered to create a comfortable and functional living space.
1. Spacious & Bright: Embracing Natural Light
Both Indonesia and Singapore are blessed with abundant sunshine, and we sought to harness this natural light, creating an airy and inviting space perfect for family gatherings. Soft cream sofas, paired with a plush brown carpet, establish a cozy and sophisticated living area. A delicate blush-pink curtain adds a subtle touch of warmth and cheer, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. The interplay of light and texture creates a sense of openness and tranquility. This open-plan living area design maximizes natural light and fosters a sense of connection.
2. Smart & Seamless Storage: Where Style Meets Functionality
As author Cheryl Mendelson wisely noted, “What truly makes a house feel like home is the way it’s cared for.” Maintaining a sense of order, especially with three fashion-loving women in the family, can be a delightful challenge. Our approach was to seamlessly integrate storage solutions throughout the home, balancing aesthetics with functionality. From bespoke wardrobes in the closets and bathrooms to cleverly designed cabinetry in the kitchen, every corner was thoughtfully considered to maximize space without compromising style. This allows the family to truly live and enjoy their home, rather than constantly managing clutter. We specialize in space-saving solutions and custom cabinetry design.
3. A Private Sanctuary for Relaxation: Reconnecting and Recharging
Amidst the fast pace of modern life, a personal retreat is essential. We designed a dedicated entertainment room—a sanctuary where the family can unwind and reconnect. Sleek dark wood cabinetry, carefully chosen ambient lighting, and curated shelving for family mementos create the perfect backdrop for cozy movie nights and intimate conversations. This room embodies comfort, offering a haven where everyone can relax and recharge after a long day, fostering a sense of shared experience and togetherness. This entertainment room design provides a perfect space for family time.
